In general, the Anglophone Community currently in crises situation has often laid very legitimate concerns and anyone in his right senses would at least be sympathetic to this concerns, but somehow it seems the Francophone community is not, or are they?
One thing for sure is that even if they are sympathetic, the general opinion held by anglophones is that francophones have done nothing signifcant to show solidarity with them or have they?
Cameroon as a country has allot of issues. When one party stays in power for that long, there are bound to be problems. When a government is ineffective and inefficient no matter how lofty its ideas may be, there is bound to be problems. In Cameroon, Fancophones like Anglophones all have allot of issues that need to be resolved and most of these issues are fundamental and matter of survival but they sure need each other's support for this issues to be resolved.
So why are francophones so lukewarm about the anglophone crises?
Just one reason:, The anglophone community demands were very selfish and less considerate. If something is good for us, wouldnt it be good for our brothers too? Im talking about the idea of autonomy. Why is it that Anglophones never lobbied or rallied for the other 8 regions of Cameroon to seek more autonomy or federal status, at least that is something francophones would have benefited from the anglophone system. Francophones send their children to anglosaxon schools because they understand the benefits of the anglosaxon system. And they too want to get all the anglosaxon benefits they can get, then you come along and want to sideline them, and expect them to be sympathetic?
Of cause, one will argue that as a minority group our main fear is protection from domination by the majority group, but even with say a ten state federation, special clauses can be put in to guarantee the uniqueness of the minority. For giving them more voice constitutionally and at the various state institutions or at least giving their vote more power, just like the electoral college system in the USA.
